Here are some examples of the kinds of DNA paternity testing
casework that we perform:
- Fully Accredited or Legally Admissable Paternity Testing is called for when results will be needed for legal purposes such as child support or child custody. It is also advisable to avoid any sample tampering potential which can happen with home testing.
- Self Collection or Home Paternity Testing is useful when results will not be needed for legal purposes such as child support or child custody and there is no chance of sample tampering by test participants.
- Immigration DNA Testing
is used to establish relationships for immigration purposes. Genelex has over twenty years experience handling the varying country requirements for this testing.
- Grand Paternity is called for when the father is unavailable.
It is a straightforward test when both of his parents are available
for testing and there is no doubt as to his parentage.
- Prenatal DNA Paternity Testing
is performed on samples obtained by trained
medical personnel using the amniocentisis or CVS (chorionic villis
sampling) procedures. It is the responsibility of the client
to seek medical advice concerning the performance of these procedures.
- DNA Sibling Testing is performed to determine if two or more people are full siblings, half siblings, or unrelated.
- Kinship DNA Testing (Aunt, Uncle, Cousin)
is a more complicated test because the family
relationships must be determined using fewer and more distantly
related individuals such as the child's Aunts and Uncles or Brothers
and Sisters. It is possible using the most advanced of these
testing methods to determine if two people are siblings, half-siblings
or unrelated.
-
Unusual Samples such as tissue, water bottles, or teeth can be used if other samples are not available. Genelex has a high success rate with extracting DNA from unusual samples even when other labs fail.
- Deceased individuals can be tested using medical, funerary,
or other biological materials. Often these are routine, but they
may involve serious criminal charges and difficult-to-work-with
samples. We have extensive experience and an outstanding, courtroom-proven
record with these cases. If the date of death is recent, call
immediately to discuss the circumstances in order to prevent
the loss of easily obtainable samples.
- Twin Zygosity Testing is used to determine of twins are fraternal or identical. If needed for medical purposes, this is often covered by insurance.
