Paternity Test Types
Genelex routinely performs the broadest spectrum of identity tests available today. This allows us to report results with a high level of certainty even when key family members are unavailable. Here are some examples: Fully Accredited or Self Collection DNA Testing are both offered options. We've prepared a chart so that you can compare the two types of parentage tests that are available. The laboratory testing is performed in the same manner in both types of test. The differences are in the collection and reporting. When making your decision please consider what would happen if the test results either confirm or deny paternity.
Carefully consider your options, make a decision and we will schedule your testing and provide you with the information and materials needed to proceed. For more information or additional guidance, please don't hesitate to contact your Genelex DNA Testing Consultant at any time. Motherless Testing is a common testing option. The mother's sample is not necessary to perform paternity testing. Pre-Natal testing is performed on samples obtained by trained medical personnel using the amniocentisis from approximately thirteen to twenty weeks gestation or CVS (chorionic villis sampling) procedures from eight to eleven weeks. It is the responsibility of the client to seek medical advice concerning the performance of these procedures. When the Father is unavailable for testing, two testing options are available. Grand Paternity which is a straightforward test when both of his parents are available for testing and there is no doubt as to his parentage. Kinship Analysis is a more complicated test because the family relationships must be determined using fewer and more distantly related individuals, such as the child's aunts and uncles or brothers and sisters. It is possible using the most advanced of these testing methods to determine if two people are siblings, half-siblings or unrelated. Deceased individuals can be tested using medical, funerary, or abandoned biological materials. Often these are routine, but they may involve serious criminal charges and difficult-to-work-with samples. We have extensive experience and an outstanding, courtroom proven record with these cases. If the date of death is recent, call immediately to discuss the circumstances to prevent the loss of easily obtainable samples. Newborn testing is performed on samples obtained by trained medical professionals during the cutting of the umbilical cord at birth. Kits are sent out to either the individual or attending doctor prior to the delivery date. Twin Zygosity is performed to determine whether twins are identical or fraternal. Samples are only required from the twins. DNA Identity Testing is performed on children and high profile individuals to create a genetic identification profile in case of disappearance or foul play. This procedure is also performed to determine whether two samples are from the same individual. |
